The Curse Of Bigfoot Researchers

I start this morning like every morning, shower, get dressed, take the dogs out, feed the dogs, eat breakfast and go out back and check for sign of a Bigfoot visit. Sounds typical until you get to the Bigfoot part and that is where this story starts.

Actual Feathers found by my truck
I thought Bigfoot research was just another outdoor activity for me. I hunt, fish, camp, and go “Bigfooting”. This all changed in the summer of 2010 when  I began finding blue jay feathers beside my truck each morning.

This escalated to finding footprints and large amounts of dog food being taken from a snap closed container. By the spring of 2011 I was getting at least two visits a week. By what you ask?, as unusual as it sounds by a group of Bigfoot. They would venture into my small town neighborhood, take dog food, look into windows, and visit my outside dogs. They even pecked on windows and turned the front door handle on one occasion!

This is the “curse” that Bigfoot researchers face. If you find a group of Bigfoot and begin to study them they will follow you home! I thought I was alone, but when I began contacting other long term researchers I found out that what was going on at my house was more common than I imagined. This phenomenon has been happening to Bigfoot Researchers for decades. It is almost a "right of passage" for those who investigate Bigfoot.

It goes mostly unmentioned and is rarely talked about because even researchers have a hard time explaining it. How do they find you? How do they know which house is yours? Is it by smell? Do they “mark” you somehow? All questions I and other researchers struggle to answer. Of course most are afraid to mention it because of the ridicule and skepticism they get even from inside the Bigfoot Community. It is bad enough we go into the woods “on a wild goose chase” and now we are claiming the Bigfoot visit our suburban homes on a regular basis, most just can not accept that reality, but it is true.
One Bigfoot is lifted up by another to steal eggs out of bird nest, the scuff marks are left on the siding of my house.
Hand print on side of my house.

In my case the "teen age" Bigfoot of the group became very bold in the summer of 2011. He is approximately 6 foot tall and weighs about 200 lbs. He was hiding in a tree in my back yard and watching my neighbors sit around and chat after dark. One of the women noticed him, her police officer husband retrieved his flashlight and gun. When he demanded the intruder come down the “skinny teenager in a black hoodie” jumped over 14 feet out of a tree, hit the ground running,  and ran off as my neighbors watched.

A month later another the neighbor who lives behind me came outside onto her back deck about 10:00 PM because her dogs would not stop barking. She saw a “crouched figure” on the corner of her house. When she looked toward it, it stood up, ran the full length of her back yard, leaped over a 4-foot dog fence and ran away. She called the police to report a prowler, in her words she described this prowler as “a skinny guy in a black hoodie, that ran very fast”. Later I talked to her about the “prowler” and she used the word “it” to describe the prowler three times before she corrected herself and said “him”. She also told me that a few days after this incidence something poked the motion sensors out of all her outside lights so they would not work anymore. She blamed it on vandals.

It gets even more interesting when my neighbors tell me that we have a “peeping tom” in the neighborhood. The police were called at least two times when a family just up the street from me reported that a “teenager, in a black hoodie”, was looking in the bedroom window of their 16-year-old daughter.

Though the teenager Bigfoot has since calmed down I still get a visit every week or two. Now they mostly take dog food and leave a print or two behind. This morning as I made my routine check I found two faint footprints behind my deck. The prints were 18 inches long, which I think is the female. The male of this group is huge. I have only found a partial print from him, but the width of his foot is 10 inches! The female of the group has 18-inch tracks, the teenager 15-inch, and the infant 8-inch.

The adult male's toe prints, note the width of the foot is 10 inches. Photo taken beside my deck.

18 inch footprint(s) found today (June 6th, 2012) in my back yard. The stride length was six feet.
So if you want to take up becoming a Bigfoot Researcher be warned, they will find you and they will visit you. Be prepared for this eventuality.

  2. That is so neat. Is it seasonal or year round? I guess what I'm asking is do they seem to be there all the time or just some times of the year?

They must feel pretty comfortable there too.

    1. Year round. The visits increase during late winter/early spring. I think this is in correlation to when natural food sources are at their lowest.

    2. Thanks so much. I think this is amazing information.

What wonderful experiments you can do! Good Luck!

  4. Take advantage of this, maybe put a triggered camera in dog food so when the top is taken off. I know with all this action i would get some proof, other than what you have. Their in your domain, take advantage of that. You may never get a beter chance. Enjoyed your post.

  5. LOL...I love it!!! Funny forest people...lol

Please don't be sneaky and set up hidden cameras. You may loose them after that. Just enjoy and see where this goes. Sounds like they trust you and you don't want to ever jeopardize that trust...

  6. I hope they don't end up being shot! Maybe game cameras ought to be put up in the neighborhood as bigfoot repellant.

I didn't know that this was a common problem for researchers. Tibergiant was the first one I suspected may have been followed home and now you.

  8. OK let me tell you what happened to my cousin in the 1960s in N/E Arkansas. They lived WAY out in the country in an old house next to some THICK woods. Uncle worked late and the 3 children stayed there until he'd get home. They got sleepy that night and went to bed. Terry & Debbie in one bed and Lil Jr in his bed. all 7-10 years old. Later Terry gets up to go to the bathroom. Finishes and goes back to bed, but heard a noise in the back door area. she thought it was her daddy coming in and faked being asleep. She peeked out to see the kitchen door and there stood a BF!! She said he leaned way down and walked through the door. It walked down the hall and INTO her room. She said it leaned over their bed and sniffed. She described it as VERY tall (Stooped over in the room) and was hairy, Black eyes and smelled like a mix of skunk and rotten eggs. Then it left and went into the kitchen. She said she was frozen with fear but tried to play like she was asleep the whole time.Later that morning when they got up, the kitchen was a MESS. Stuff was everywhere and Uncle was mad at the kids thinking THEY had made that mess.Terry never told anyone about this until this summer of 2012, when she told me about it. I lived in that house aswell at one time and the woods around it are VERY dark and very spooky in there. She has been a life long Christian and a good person and I have NO reason to suspect that she would make this up or lie about this. If she said it happened, Then it DID! The fear is still in her voice when she spoke of this. Amazing huh? Im just glad nothing BAD happened to them there. Thanks :) HERB

  9. Just remember turn-about is fair play. You think nothing about it when you go poking your nose around Sasquatches neighbor hood (the forest), so they probably figure what the heck, lets go poke around this guys neighbor hood, and guess what ? SCORE !! You have dog food free for the taking, lots of people watching places to hideout in and on, get a good laugh out of scaring the crap out of the grey haired little old lady and her poodle. You kinda see where Im going with this, only this is every day fun and games for ol' sasquatch and family.

  12. OK This Happened to myself and my brother. The year was 1960 in Marin county,ca.We hike over to some hills by a school we lived at. At the time we called it the springs because it had water that would drain out of it in the winter and the summer time. It was about mid. November My Brother and I like to hike up into a small valley to the top of hills and check out the Bay. When we where going up the valley he told me he had a feeling that we where being watched from the woods when we look around and up in the trees their they where three of them two of them just sitting the two big ones did not move just watching us the small one was just hanging there not moving at all.We back down the valley and ran like hell. I have more to the story. Just had to tell some one.L.T.L.

    1. Curious where this was, if I may ask. I am a native of Fairfax & have had several non-visual encounters that scared me half to death. I knew they were there, but I wasn't sure what 'They' were at the time, but I suspected. I know the blind panic when they are very near by. It literally makes you 'Blind' when it hits.

My areas of experiences(70's & 80's) were Carson Falls & the hunter's camp in the valley that leads to Kent lake, Steep Ravine near Stinson, Angel's Camp, & Cascade canyon leading toward Pine Mountain. It was the smells & rock throwing that always confused me...Cheers!

    2. Interesting. In 1976 & 1977, I lived in San Venetia. I used to hike in the hills, starting at the end of Garden Ave. Up the hill is the San Pedro Mountain Open Space Reserve. I remember that when I would leave the meadow area and hike into the woods, I was regularly (30% - 40% of the time) stalked by something. I never felt particularly threatened by it, I just came to accept it as part of hiking in that area. Upon reflection, the stalking never happened when my dog was along.
