The "Eyes" of the Bigfoot Are Upon You

Still capture of an adult holding infant in front -2010
The eyes of a Bigfoot are very interesting. They appear to be like dog or cat eyes. Dogs, cats and other animals possess a light-reflecting surface known as the tapetum lucidum, located between the optic nerve and the retina. It operates like a mirror, reflecting the light and allowing the rods and cones another opportunity to pick up the limited amount of light available at night. This explains why their eyes glow when a light source hits them at night. This also would explain why they sometimes glow on their own with no apparent light source. Even on the darkest night with no moon there is still light present. It may be very slight starlight but it is there. Since the Bigfoot’s eyes are picking up this light and reflecting it, it often gives them the appearance that their eyes are glowing at night.

Hiding in the shadows
I have also noticed the eyes will appear reflective during the day when they are hit by sunlight. This is especially apparent when the Bigfoot is back in the shadows and leans out to take a peek around. The eyes will glow very brightly.

I think the Bigfoot can also see light in the Infrared (IR) Spectrum. I say this based on two factors. The first is there ability to avoid game cameras at night that use IR to illuminate the immediate area. The second comes from a trail camera video I captured in 2009. One Bigfoot was peering at the camera from thick vegetation. A second Bigfoot shook the camera then waved its hand in front of the camera. The IR light bounced back off the camera causing an “IR Flash” that illuminated a wide area of the night. During this flash the eyes of the Bigfoot that was observing from the safety of the vegetation reacted to the IR light. The pupils retracted almost to pinpoint. Then as the IR light returned to “normal” the pupils adjusted and dilated.
The sequence left to right - pinpoint during the flash, dilated after the flash

On a side note, critics have claimed the video I reference is no more than leaves and shadows, an illusion, or pareidolia. When I point out that this subject has two eyes that have pupils that can be easily seen and react to IR light there is silence. This issue is never addressed in their criticisms. Usually the critics switch to personal attacks or just incoherent rants filled with expletives when I point out the “clump of leafs and shadows” has moving, light reacting eyes.

The eyes are the first things I look for when I think I have captured a Bigfoot on video. Eyes cannot be created by pareidloia in the brain. If those eyes reflect sunlight, glow, blink, move, or the pupils react if the light changes then I know I have a biological entity, not an optical illusion.

In the field I look for this “eye shine” when I think I see something suspicious. The Bigfoot will try to stay down wind with the sun at their back if possible. The wind is always more important than the sun direction. This at times puts them where the sun is shinning in their eyes. This is the time they are vulnerable if you know what to look for. Many times their hiding positions will be exposed to morning or evening sun and this is another time when they can be vulnerable. I use the word “vulnerable” loosely. It means you can locate their position but getting close to them is another issue. Each time I have managed to locate a Bigfoot by their eye shine they have been in a high ground position above me or hiding in thick vegetation that I could not easily access. When I would attempt to move toward them they would slip away long before I was able to reach their position. I have also witnessed Bigfoot actually closing their eyes when trying to hide from me. I think they are keenly aware of this vulnerability and do this to limit their exposure when we get close to them.

Examples of Bigfoot eyes:

There is still much to learn about the Bigfoot and their biology. The definitely have many advantages over us and I believe their eyes  are one of their greatest advantages.

  1. This is why I like your blog. The information
you have is above and beyond all others. I have a question for you. My son came up with an idea
that I have never heard before. Do you think a
bigfoot would respond to a silent dog whistle?

    1. They might, I have heard of that idea before but have never tried it. I will have to try it in the future.

  2. Brilliant post Scott. So informative. Have you ever thought of converting your HD video camera to view and record in the infra red? Maybe the creatures are easier to see or stand out more in this spectrum of light, without the usual colours of our human viewing field to hide behind.. I think you are correct about them seeing in infra red and they always seem to see us alot easier and way before we have any idea that they are even there. So maybe the infra red spectrum of light could help you see them. Its just a thought Scott.
